Today’s music scene in Boca Raton is fairly diverse. With the popularity of Southern Rap, Latin Music, Miami Bass and Jimmy Buffet’s South Florida Lifestyle tunes, there is something for (almost) everyone.
Influences from yesterday have formed the scene that is today. With a large portion of South Florida’s population make-up of Cuban, Haitian, and many other Afro-Caribbean cultures, Dance Music became very popular by embracing the grooves and beats from these cultures. Miami was also home to the Sex Pistols – one of the 1st American punk groups to release an Indy single. And at the peak of the Disco era, KC and the Sunshine Band emerged from South Florida and took the charts by storm. By the 1990’s numerous local DJs were becoming extremely popular which afforded Miami to let night clubs to stay open 24 hrs on weekends, heightening the demand for new Dance Music.
We give thanks to the artists who have paved the way for today’s South Florida’s music scene. We also give thanks to the great array of performers who grace the South Florida stages today…and tomorrow!
