With Veteran’s Day approaching, the country remembers and honors the sacrifices made by our veterans. This is never more true than in Florida where more than a million veterans have decided to make their home. Florida is home to an estimated number of 1.2 million veterans with wartime veterans making up a majority of the total. It comes as no surprise then that the city of Boca Raton has several events that have been organized to commemorate veterans and give deference to this special day.
Veteran’s Day Ceremony
On November 11, 2014 Veteran’s Day, there will be a ceremony held in honor of the nation’s veterans. The ceremony will be held at Boca Raton Cemetery, 449 SW 4th Ave. The event will feature veteran’s groups, music provided by Ft. Lauderdale Highlanders, as well as the Boca Raton Community High School Band.
Veteran’s Day Evening Concert
Continuing the honors of the day dedicated to United States veterans is a Veteran’s Day Evening Concert. This event will be held at Mizner Park Amphitheater located at 590 Plaza Real. The free concert put on by the city features music by the Florida Wind Symphony which will play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. that night and will be performing “An American Tribute.”
The Adolph and Rose Levis Jewish Community Center
In addition to the concert being held at Mizner Park, The Adolph and Rose Levis Jewish Community Center is also hosting a special concert dated for November 11, 2014. The concert will be held at the Sandler Center at the Federation of South Palm Beach County in West Boca. Cantor Paul Offenkratz will be performing along with a plano accompaniment at 7:30 p.m.
Attendance at these events demonstrates our respect and honor for what the nation’s veterans have given up in the name of service to the country. With the majority of events lasting for only a few hours, attending one of these ceremonies is a wonderful way for the community to provide support for the large number of veterans that have made Florida their home.
